Wireless LAN is one of the most rapidly developing networking technology. Also, with the ever-increasing advent of new electronic devices (e.g. notebooks, PDAs, cell phones, etc.), the users' mobility has increased dramatically across university and college campuses. For these reasons, WLAN roaming service has become an extremely important part everyday .

The Taiwan government has recently initiaed“M-Taiwan&U-Taiwan” programs, the goal of which is to make a application-based wireless environment in Taiwan. With the popularity of WLAN, in one or two years, the percentage of the universities and the colleges with WLAN is expected to be more than 95%, and more than 80% of the universities and the colleges are expected to join the WLAN roaming project.
